Operation Sindoor: IAF Dismantled Chinese-Pak Defence Grid in 23 Minutes

In a remarkable display of speed, precision, and technological dominance, the Indian Air Force (IAF) executed Operation Sindoor, dismantling terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) in just 23 minutes. According to an official press release, the IAF managed to jam and bypass Pakistan’s Chinese-made air defence systems, rendering them ineffective during the strike.
What makes this operation stand out is that not a single Indian asset was lost—a testament to India’s advanced planning, indigenous surveillance, and delivery systems. The strike force deployed a combination of long-range drones, guided munitions, and loitering (suicide) drones to carry out precise and politically calibrated attacks.
Post-strike assessments led Indian forces to recover and identify fragments of Chinese-origin PL-15 missiles, Turkish drones labeled “Yiha” or “YEEHAW,” along with long-range rockets, quadcopters, and commercial drones—proof of hostile technologies neutralized during the mission.
Speaking on May 12, Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, Director General of Military Operations, praised the flawless integration of modern and legacy systems used during the strike. Since India didn’t cross the Line of Control (LoC) or international border, a counter-response from Pakistan was anticipated.
India was more than ready. A multi-layered defence shield was deployed using counter-drone systems, electronic warfare assets, and a mix of air defence systems from both the Army and Air Force. These included shoulder-fired weapons, legacy missile systems, and modern air defence platforms, ensuring strategic sites were protected.
This preparation paid off when, on the night of May 9–10, Pakistan attempted retaliatory strikes on Indian airfields and logistics bases. Thanks to over a decade of consistent investment in domestic defence technology, these attacks were effectively blocked, with no major damage to Indian infrastructure.
Operation Sindoor was launched in response to last month’s terror attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 people. The May 7 strike is estimated to have neutralized over 100 terrorists, making it one of the most efficient and impactful Indian military operations in recent history.
